Meksyk nawiedziło trzęsienie ziemi o sile 7,9 stopni w skali Richtera. Jego epicentrum znajdowało się w odległości ok 25 kilometrów od miasta Ometepec w prowncji Guerrero na głębokości 17 kilometrów. Wstrząsy były odczuwalne róznież w stolicy kraju Mexico City oraz w znanym kurorcie Acapulco.
Na razie nie ma wiadomości o rozmiarze zniszczeń czy liczbie ofiar. W Mexico City ludzie w panice wybiegli na ulice, uszkodzone budynki są na bierząco ewakuowane.
Obecnie odczuwalne są wstrząsy wtórne.
