Deszcz meteorytów spada na miasta w Rosji
Seria eksplozji spowodowana przez deszcz meteorytów, wywołała panikę w trzech głównych miastach Uralu (Czelabińsk, Jekaterinburg i Tjumen). Świadkowie opowiadają, że fala uderzeniowa wybiła okna w domach i telefony komórkowe przestały działać. Rannych jest około 1200 osób.
W Czelabińsku, świadkowie relacjonują, że wybuch był bardzo głośny i przypominał trzęsienie ziemi. Na niebie było widać ogromne smugi dymu. Płonące fragmenty meteorytu spadały na ziemię.

Biurowce w centrum Czelabińska zostały ewakuowane. Władze potwierdzają, że powodem zdarzenia był deszcz meteorytów, ale miejscowi mieszkańcy podejrzewają, że mógł to też być wypadek wojskowego myśliwca lub eksplozja pocisku.

Niepotwierdzone źródła donoszą, że duży meteoryt został przechwycony przez rosyjskie myśliwce i rakietami rozbity na mniejsze kawałki w celu zmniejszena skutków katastrofy.
