Oprócz swoich obliczeń, autor powołuje się na przepowiednie Majów oraz Egipcjan, którzy są uważani za potomków mieszkańców dawnej Atlantydy, która została zgładzona w poprzedniej tego typu katastrofie. Zapisy odnalezione w starożytnych kodach mówią, że 21 grudnia 2012 roku planety Wenus, Mars, Orion znajdą się w dokładnie tej samej pozycji do w roku 9792 p.n.e., kiedy wystąpił podobny kataklizm.
