Przyczyną tego tsunami było trzęsienie ziemi w oddalonych o 500 km okolicach jeziora Wener w Szwecji, które powodując osuwisko w dnie Bałtyku wywołało tsunami, a ono spowodowało w Darłowie wiele zniszczeń – powiedział dr Piotrowski.
