Asperatus (łac. nierówny, chropowaty, szorstki) to nazwa nowego typu chmur, który na wniosek brytyjskich Łowców Chmur ma zostać wpisany do Międzynarodowego Atlasu Chmur. To pierwsze nowe chmury, które pojawiły się na niebie od 1951 roku. Jako pierwsza zaobserwowała je Margaret LeMone, która fotografuje je już od 30 lat.
Asperatusy przypominają kłęby pofalowanego dywanu, wzburzone morze widziane od spodu, brązowo-szarą maź. Zdają się izolować Ziemię od atmosfery i wytłumiać dźwięki.
