W mieście Santa Maria Tlahuitoltepec w południowo-zachodnim Meksyku osunęła się ziemia, grzebiąc ponad 500 osób. Dokładna ilość ofiar nie jest znana, możliwe, że dojdzie nawet do 1000.
Osunięcie ziemi nastąpiło około 4:00 w nocy, po długotrwałych ulewnych deszczach padających w stanie Oaxaca. Ze względu na trudne warunki, pomoc dociera tylko drogą powietrzną.
